Argentine actress Eugenia 'La China' Suárez sat down for an interview on Mario Pergolini's late-night show, breaking expectations after a year of silence and evasiveness towards the press. She admitted to being 'vindictive' and was accompanied by her boyfriend, footballer Mauro Icardi, who also didn't miss the chance to take a few jabs at his ex, Wanda Nara.
A 'pink elephant' loomed over the conversation between Pergolini and Suárez. From the beginning of the talk, the focus was on the title of the series the actress stars in, 'Hija del fuego' (Daughter of Fire), a character she identified with. When the host asked if she is vindictive, Suárez replied: 'In real life, yes.'
When the host mentioned the word 'marriage,' Suárez referred to the conflict for the first time: 'But, he has to get divorced. I'm waiting for that. I'm very hurtful, I don't raise my voice but I say things that I later regret.'
Icardi began his participation by talking about how much the couple is accepted in Turkey: 'I'm lucky that the Turks love me a lot, and ever since she arrived, it's as if they idolized her. They finally met, and the footballer gave her a signed jersey, which is one of the things that also helped her a lot.'
Before concluding the back-and-forth, the athlete said he is not comfortable with his girlfriend's nude scenes on screen: 'I don't like those things, for example, and I made it clear on the first day.'
When the topic of marriage was brought up again, Mauro admitted: 'First I have to get divorced. But not like going and breaking a car. Mauro knows that when I'm about to lose it, he has to take the phone out of my hand.' 'I put up with it pretty well because I have no choice. In a few months, the divorce will be finalized.'
During this situation, Icardi watched attentively from behind the camera, already with his microphone 'wired' and waiting for the host to call on him. As Pergolini asked Suárez if she is vindictive, she identified with her character and said: 'In real life, yes.'
